With a focus on paddling and racing, he achieved multiple national, European, and international medals in sprint canoeing and Dragonboat. Surfing influenced him deeply, and encountering outrigger canoeing in Hawaii marked a turning point. Marton, a technically inclined individual, leverages his expertise as a technical product designer in Composite Engineering. His global racing experiences, including competitions in the Molokai Races, captivated him, driving him to design and construct top-tier canoes, uniting high-tech materials and cutting-edge techniques. Active as a designer, developer, and racer, Marton epitomizes paddling excellence.
Nalu's Journey Since 2007
In 2007, Marton Buday established Nalu Canoes with one goal in mind: to produce the highest-quality boats and accessories on the market. Buday was born into a family of paddlers, and thus he naturally followed in their footsteps. His passion for water-sports, especially paddling and racing, was evident from an early age. He earned multiple national, European, and international medals in sprint canoeing and Dragonboat competitions. Surfing also played a significant role in his life, and when he discovered outrigger canoeing, he felt that it combined the best of both worlds. He loved traveling and competing around the world, and after participating in both the Molokai Solo and the Molokai Hoe races in Hawaii, he became enamored with the Outrigger canoeing culture. As a technically inclined person, Buday’s next step was to design and build his own canoe. With his knowledge and experience as a technical product designer in Composite Engineering, working on projects in the fields of Aerospace and Motorsports, he had the expertise to construct the highest quality boat possible. He continues to participate actively in ocean paddling races as a designer, developer, and racer.
